It is a Process

It is a Process! Chad and I's theme for our weightloss and health goals. It helps us remember that the changes don't happen over night but with dedication and hard work the process works and we will reach our goals.

I know the process is working. Take a look at our Family photo from October 2008 and our family photo from this August. It brings tears to my eyes. Wow what a difference 10 months can make! Chad and I have lost 130 pounds together! You can't really see our bodies in these pictures but in our arms and face alone you can see the major differences.

I am so happy Chad and I are taking this journey together and can't wait to compare August 2009 photo with August 2010 photo!

I Am Not a Fat Girl Anymore

I AM NOT A FAT GIRL ANYMORE! YEAH!!!!!!

I have to say shopping is so much more fun now that I am in normal size clothes. When I was in plus size clothes the clothing is limited, stores are limited, and not very trendy in a lot of cases. I have been in plus size clothes for at least 8 years. Only one time a few years ago did I get down to a 16 that was short lived. Now I am in a 14 and continuing to go down.

It still is so weird to me to be able to go into any store and find things that fit! I love it! When I walk in a store I have to remind myself that I can shop there because I am not a fat girl anymore. When you lose weight do not continue to where 20's when you should be wearing 16's. You have worked hard you can spoil yourself a little. You have earned it. Don't get me wrong 14 isn't my goal size but I can't wear 18's they look sloppy and unflattering. I want my style to match how I feel which is confident, proud, and motivated to keep pushing my journey forward. I am not going crazy buying ton of clothes because hopefully I will be in 12's sooner rather than later but you need some essentials to get you through. I AM JUST SAYING!

I am in my recovery week this week so I have doing Core, Kenpo, Yoga, X Stretch. I am still pushing hard each day. I am still struggling with my calories. I love to drink in the summer. Oh who am I kidding I like to have a few drinks anytime! The drinking is really slowing down my weight loss. I am going to have to cut back if I want to reach my goals.

I love my bodybugg it is going to help me stay more on track! I will update you more on that after I have used it for a couple of weeks.Bringing it each and every week!

P90X Round 3 Week 3

This is the start of week 3. Wow I love P90X and the changes I see in my body every week! Don't get me wrong the scale doesn't always change every week but my muscle gets more defined, cellulite slowing creeping away, and losing inches. I know as a woman it is all about the scale! I struggle with remembering that over all weight loss and fitness is more than just the pounds on the scale!

DID YOU HEAR THAT LADIES! Over all weight loss and fitness is more than just the pounds on the scale!

I have to remind myself of this everyday I get on the scale.

I did hit my goal last week, I said by the end of week 2 I wanted to be back down to pre-vacation/3 week break weight and I am happy to report that goal was accomplished! Next goal is to weigh less than my husband again so I have 3-4 pounds to meet that goal unless he losses more this week. Men loss weight so much faster than women. It is so frustrating!

I know I said it is not just about the scale and it appears that all of my goals are about the scale. Weight is an easy way to measure success not the only way. This is why tracking is so important because tracking helps you measure success as well:

  • Track Weight
  • Track Measurements
  • Track Food
  • Track Workouts
When I don't meet the scale goals I look to reflect on the positives from the week how many inches did I lose, how are my clothes fitting, and how do I feel. I look at my workout sheets did I improve this week (maybe by going up in weights, more reps, or overall intensity). These things help keep me going when the pounds aren't coming off. Tracking your workouts are easy on P90X they provide easy pre formatted workout sheets for each phase/week/day of training. On www.teambeachbody.com they provide additional tracking of your measurements, workouts, meal plans, and much more. There are lots of resources for success. All of the tracking pieces help me be successful week after week. Chad and I are finally broken down and buying Apex Bodybugg's. I am going to pick them up today or tomorrow. We got a great deal on 2 off of Craig's List. This will give us exactly how many calories we burn each day. I am very excited to get these and try them out. Just another way for us to track. If you don't know about the bodybugg check it out @ http://www.bodybugg.com/index.php. I will let you guys know how we like them in the upcoming weeks.

P90X Week 1 & 2 Session 3 (28 weeks)

Chad and I took 3 weeks off between sessions although we did exercise some during those three but it wasn't anything like our normal P90X hard core 6 days a week routine. I have to admit I did gain about 7 pounds during those 3 weeks off. To much partying on vacation I suppose. :o) This week I am happy to report that I have dropped 5 of those pounds and expect the other 2 to be off by the end of week 2 which is Sunday.

I am not going to lie Week 1 was hard!
I was very sore in week 1 but I pushed myself through the week. This week I am not near as sore and it feels great to get back into our routine with working out. I am feeling more motivated than ever to continue my journey! I am struggling with tracking my food. I have to get back on track with my food tracking in week 3.
In my last note I posted "My P90X Journey" I didn't share any pictures. I thought I would share pictures with you this time to give you a little perspective of how far we have come in 6 months of P90X workouts.

My P90X Journey

Many of you have been asking me about P90X and my progress. For those you whom haven’t check out P90X go to www.beachbodycoach.com/chaddaph P90X has been a great program for Chad and I. We have tried lots of workouts and diets over the years but always burn out. We have finally found one that works for us and just when we where getting a little burned out the last week of round 2 we were done and had a 2 week break! I am not going to tell you it is easy because it is hard and intense every week. Tony Horton is great, fun, and motivating. We keep bringing it each and every week. Don’t get me wrong we have days or weeks that are still a struggle but with the changes we see in our body each week it keeps us going. I am lucky to be taking this journey with Chad so we continue to push each other on days we are struggling.

My goal is to successfully lose the weight; keep it off once and for all. During my 1st 13 weeks of P90X I was watching what I ate and making better food choices but I didn’t track my food in take at all. During my next 13 weeks I used my iPOD Touch “Lose It” application to track my calories and weight loss on a daily basis. In addition made a big effort to cook and eat at home vs. eating out. It has been very enlightening to track my food and has really shown me that I still don’t make all the right choices. P90X does offer a nutrition program with it but we haven’t followed it. It has just been a personal choice Chad and I have made because we feel that tracking calories is a better solution for us to ensure we are successful for a lifetime vs. burning out on a nutrition program.

Since August of 2008 I have lost 50 pounds (37 of those where during my 26 weeks on P90X)!
I have lost 2 clothes size in pants, 3 clothes sizes in shirts and dresses. It is so nice to be able to shop in any store again. In inches I have lost 20+ inches over my entire body. I didn’t start tracking my inches until I was 6 weeks into our 1st round of P90X so I would say it is probably closer to 30 inches because I lost 15 pounds in the 1st 6 weeks and I know that I lost a lot of inches. Unfortunately I haven’t tracked my fat and muscle %. I know I would be seeing a huge difference in those ratios. I am sorry to say that we didn’t take before and after photos for either round. I will try and take before pictures today so that I can share them after this round.

Top 5 Reasons I LOVE P90X!

1. It is like having your own personal trainer at home.

2. It is at home so no excuse not workout. “I didn’t make it to the gym today!” (You need minimal at home equipment.)

3. Week 1 or Week 27 it is still challenging every workout and I get sore every workout.

4. I love how it makes me feel! Motivated, Self-Confident, and I finally remembered that I am an athlete.

5. It is a great role model for my kids. They like to workout with us. They are too cute.

As Tony Horton says “Just Keep Pushing Play”!

We have started motivating other friends and family to start P90X. Just as our friends Melanie and Juan motivated us to start. If you decide you want to learn more about P90X or to order please contact me anytime or visit our website @ www.beachbodycoach.com/chaddaph. Please let me know if you guys have any questions I am happy to assist anyone that is interested in getting started. I will try and post updates regularly during this 13 weeks. My goal is to lose an additional 60 pounds! I still have a lot to accomplish.
